LIMF will be exploring the theme of ‘Remember The Times‘ with five ‘LIMF Presents’ projects which will celebrate pivotal periods of time in history for various genres plus the award winning LIMF Academy programme will return again for 2017.

Last year the Liverpool International Music Festival attracted over 160,000 music lovers, cementing Liverpool’s reputation as a must-visit destination and establishing LIMF as the current voice of this global music city with an experimental but accessible programme for all. Thanks to its consistently unbeatable line-up, LIMF is now one of the leading music festivals in Europe.

With an eclectic and diverse line-up and activities for all the family to enjoy, Summer Jam will take over Sefton Park acting as the culmination of a spectacular series of events as part of Liverpool International Music Festival’s programme in 2017. Chart-topper’s Gorgon City, responsible for hits such as “Ready For Your Love” and “Go All Night’ will be headlining the Saturday, joining them will be Beyonce collaborator Naughty Boy, X Factor runner-up Fleur East, house wonder kid Jax Jones and the ever popular Katy B. Closing Summer Jam on Sunday will be local legends and Britpop heroes Cast, performing a set of classics old and new, from the 90s all the way through to the present day. Joining them will be acclaimed singer song writer Corinne Bailey Rae, singer JP Cooper who recently stormed the charts with Jonas Blue on “Perfect Stranger”, indie darling Kate Nash as well as rising star Louis Berry. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will wow crowds with their world-class arrangements, plus performances by the likes of So Solid Crew, MJ Cole, Fuse ODG, Tieks, Logan Sama as well as exciting local talent including Hooton Tennis Club, Tea Street Band and XamVolo taking to the stage.

Brand new for 2017 is a luxurious VIP Experience area for LIMF Summer Jam, giving ticket holders exclusive access to a private bar area, deluxe toilets and up close and personal views of LIMF’s Central stage area.

Yaw Owusu, LIMF Music Curator, said: “LIMF has been on an awesome journey since 2013; from being a new kid on the block to being an exciting, established and unique festival proposition for any music lover from across the UK and beyond. This year, our fifth, we have attempted to give you our most cohesive, yet characteristically diverse programme yet, which reflects our continued ambition, passion and desire to always step up.

“In 2017 we are celebrating a milestone – not just for us, but also for Liverpool generally as it celebrates 50 summers of great music and culture. LIMF is also celebrating amazing periods of extraordinary music, from across various genres, all of which have had a positive impact on our city’s culture and its creatives. With one eye looking back and one eye looking forward, we celebrate and Remember The Times!

“I hope that, as per years past, true music lovers come out and enjoy what LIMF has to offer – whether its the household names, the musical legends or something quirky or emerging.”

Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, said: “It’s incredible to think of the evolution of LIMF over the past five years, and it’s a real credit to all those involved that in such a short space of time it has become one of the most popular festivals in the city’s events calendar. The line-up this year seems stronger than ever with a mix of household names, up and coming talent and some world-firsts which goes to show why LIMF has generated such a credible reputation – not only within the music industry but with festival goers themselves.

“July will be a real celebration of music and I’m particularly looking forward to see how the event pays tribute to Liverpool’s Summers of Love programme which is a nod to the cultural explosion which took place in 1967.”

The LIMF Presents programme, which is inspired by the city’s Summer of Love theme, is seamlessly woven together with various influences and innovative interpretations, represented with five themed events and performances. These are ‘Good Times with Norman Jay MBE’, ‘Garage Classical, presented by DJ Spoony’, ‘Circus Year One’ with Liverpool born founder Yousef, ‘Reminisce: 90s R&B with Trevor Nelson‘ and ‘No Sleep with DJ Stretch Armstrong‘. The LIMF Presents programme will take place Sefton Park Palm House between 20th-23rd July with tickets starting at £13.20, with ‘Garage Classical’ free to attend as part of LIMF Summer Jam’s Friday evening offer.

The award winning LIMF Academy will once again offer unsigned and emerging Merseyside music talent the opportunity to be showcased at LIMF Summer Jam and join a year round programme of exclusive masterclasses and workshops. The most exceptional three of the twenty-five artists and bands chosen will be offered a place on the Elite Talent Development Programme which has seen its previous artists get picked up by major label and leading management companies, as well as achieve national and international radio support. Applications open on 6th April.

LIMF is an inherently different music festival representing the next chapter of a global music city. 2017 will see its most inspired and electric line up to date, with an unbeatable day and night programme showcasing artists, music and projects that celebrate the past, present and future of music, limited not just to Liverpool but across the world.
