The tournament which set the US Open Champion on her winning path will take place in Liverpool once again this weekend.
The ITF Under-18 event is taking place at Liverpool Tennis Centre this weekend and is the same competition which saw Emma Raducanu become the youngest-ever winner of back in 2015 – aged just 13.
Hundreds of players from across the world have applied to be part of the popular junior event which sees competitors battle it out to get their first official International Tennis Federation points – potentially the first step towards a successful tennis career.
And one of those hopefuls will be 14-year-old Joe Evans who has been training in Liverpool for five years and has his eyes on taking home a trophy this weekend.
The event kicks off two weeks of solid competition as the venue in Wavertree also hosts Tennis Europe which will see under-14s from across Europe gather to compete.
Both events have been organised by Northern Vision.
Liverpool City Council’s Tennis Co-Ordinator, David Hardman said “It feels great to have the centre back open once again and to be staging events of this calibre.
“There are very few cities in the UK which have staged both Tennis Europe and ITF under-18 tournament at the same time and it’s a huge coup.
“It’s a great showcase for the city and for the sport and I hope it inspires youngsters across Liverpool to pick up a racket and get involved
