The big book pageant

As part of the R-Streets (youth project) Pilot in County Ward there will be a fantastic book pageant as part of the In Other Words  festival.

It will see creative writing and art workshops in two primary schools in the County Ward, these being Arnot St Mary and Gladys Street.

It will involve pupils from each school using their creative brains to develop their own stories with a unique Liverpool twist. These stories will then be added onto large books to highlight the creativity we have in North Liverpool.

This project has been made possible by support from LHT (Liverpool Housing Trust) and the local councillors to provide a detached presence for youth engagement in County Ward, using arts engagement as a creative hook. It has also seen detached work on the streets and work with WAP, Arnot and Sports Alive.

The project was also helped greatly by the local Rev Dr Ellen Loudon (priest in charge, St Luke the Evangelist Walton on the Hill). Of the event she said: “We at St Luke’s church are really pleased that schools in Walton are going to take part in this ‘big book pageant’ in Stanley Park…it is a great chance for our children to enjoy a good book, great art and a beautiful walk in the park”.

On the 25th of April both local schools will come together in Stanley Park by the bandstand at 2PM to highlight the fantastic creativity they have and promenade their books in a pageant of colour and creativity!
