Liverpool City Council’s Sport and Recreation Events team would like to thank everyone who took part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile earlier this year, as the team have just received confirmation that the Liverpool event raised a whopping £27,722.
All the money raised will help people living unimaginably tough lives right here on our doorstep, across the rest of the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.
The March event, saw participants run either 1, 3 or 6 miles, and they completed it in many different ways – from teeny tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock, there’s something for everyone on the big day.
It started at the Liverpool Echo Arena and saw The Batala Samba band and TV’s Dance Dynamix dance troupe help all the runners on their way around the chosen route, stirring up a great atmosphere and entertaining the cheering crowds.
Well done to everyone involved and let’s hope Liverpool can raise even more money for this great cause in 2014!
