More than 14 tonnes of rubbish has been cleared from streets around the Walton Vale area in a community clean-up day.
Free community skips were provided for residents and alleyways cleared of fly-tipped rubbish.
Roads were cleaned up with litter picking and the poover was used to remove dog fouling. Business premises were also checked to ensure they have current trade waste agreements
And was well as removing rubbish the streets were made to look smarter with the removal of graffiti and fly-posting.
Councillor Ann O’Byrne said: “This was the latest in a series of community clean-ups and one of the most successful to date. There was a great response from local people who really appreciated the use of free skips.
“They are showing pride in their neighbourhood which now looks cleaner and brighter.”
