Following recent press coverage about Uber Britannia Liverpool City Council has issued the following statement:
“Uber Britannia do not currently hold a Private Hire Operators Licence with Liverpool City Council. They have an application pending which will be considered by the Licensing Committee at a future meeting. However, Uber Britannia are currently licensed as a private hire operator in the neighbouring borough of Sefton Council.
“Private hire fares are not regulated by the local authority, the operators set their own fares and often set flat rates for certain popular destinations e.g. airports, tourist attractions etc. Any customer aggrieved by a tariff or their user experience should contact the appropriate licensing authority which should be clearly identified on the vehicle along with unique license number, e.g. Sefton as the licensing authority for Uber Britannia.”
