Unlocking Liverpool

Three city leaders have come together to talk about how Liverpool will re-emerge from lockdown.

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, Vice Chancellor of the University of Liverpool Professor Dame Janet Beer and Chief Executive of Liverpool BID Bill Addy have spoken openly and optimistically about the future of Liverpool in the latest Mersey Waves podcast – Unlocking Liverpool.

All reflect on the hard, partnership work taking place behind the scenes as they plan for the future vision of Liverpool.

Mayor Anderson talks openly about his shielded status and how technology is ensuring he can retain his leadership role and address the challenges the city is facing. In a time when we all need to be “visionary and bold” he is optimistic and says Liverpool will be well prepared when the time comes for the city to re-open once again.

There is an exciting future for the city centre according to Bill Addy, and over the coming weeks people will start to see messaging about how the city centre will be opened up which focuses on being kind, being responsible and being safe.

And with higher education seemingly at a standstill, Dame Janet has a huge amount of confidence in the future of learning at the University of Liverpool thanks to distance learning expertise already in place. But what can brand new and returning students expect in September?
