Liverpool City Council has given updated guidance for funerals.
Funeral services which take place inside the city’s three public crematoria chapels (Springwood, Anfield and Myrtle) will continue to restrict attendance numbers to keep visitors and staff safe.
Up to 30 mourners will be allowed in Anfield and Myrtle chapels, and a maximum of 50 can have access in Springwood Chapel. These numbers will be reviewed at the end of August.
Families and funeral directors will be encouraged to continue to wear face coverings in the chapel unless a relevant exemption applies. Social distancing should be maintained at all times and it is advised that people should avoid close contact with those they don’t see regularly.
Restrictions on congregation singing remain in place, and curtains will continue to close at the end of the service.
Numbers attending services outside will remain unlimited and vestries, waiting rooms, books of remembrance and bearers’ rooms will all reopen.
If anyone has symptoms or has tested positive for Covid-19, they should not to visit the crematoria.
