Village clean-up

Gateacre Village is going to look cleaner and litter–free this weekend.

The Friends of Gateacre, supported by local councillors, have organised a clean -up which takes place on Saturday 20 June (9.30 to 11.30am) with volunteers meeting on the village green, outside the Black Bull.

Litter bags are being provided by the city council and any recyclable material collected will be recycled.

“As well as making the village look smarter we want to make sure that we recycle everything we can and reduce the amount we send to landfill, “said Councillor Alice Bennett.

“We will be recycling the litter we gather and will also be taking the opportunity to encourage residents to recycle all they can.

“I would like to thank the Friends for helping to improve their neighbourhood and we were only too happy to join with them when they approached us asking for help in the clean-up.”
