Details of the delivery of the Great Homer Street development have been revealed today by the UK’s leading regeneration specialist St. Modwen, with work on site expected to begin in Spring 2014.
The announcement comes as the scheme was awarded detailed planning consent by Liverpool City Council. The scheme, known locally as Project Jennifer and led by St. Modwen in partnership with Liverpool City Council, is estimated to create 1,000 new jobs and includes a new flagship Sainsbury’s supermarket, which will be the largest in the city.
Following an initial phase of site preparation works, it is expected that development of the Sainsbury’s store will begin in Spring 2015 and open early in 2016, with the entire scheme due to complete in Autumn 2016. Further phases of development will follow in the Marwood tower and Dryden Street areas of the site.
As well as retail space, the scheme will provide new market facilities, homes, 900 free customer car parking spaces, a petrol filling station, health facilities, transport interchange and improved links to Everton Park.
