One of Liverpool’s most beautiful green gems is welcoming visitors this summer with a vibrant programme of events celebrating its heritage, creativity, and community.
From immersive storytelling and jazz under the stars, to hands-on botanic tours and Shakespeare with a twist, there’s something for everyone at Croxteth Hall’s Walled Garden this summer.
Highlights include:
Private Botanic and Heritage Tours, every Tuesday & Sunday in July and August, mix of ticketed and free tours, prices start from £!6.50
Explore the hidden beauty of Croxteth’s walled garden with expert-led tours, seasonal highlights, and the chance to meet the gardeners who care for this historic gem.
The Giant’s Blanket, 23rd July – 11:00am & 2:00pm, £7.70
A heart-warming storytelling performance by artist Claire Weetman, creating the world of a kind-hearted giant who helps her neighbours with nothing but her soft blue blankets. It is followed by imaginative play with the Giant’s soft blue blankets and is perfect family-friendly fun.
Tap & Jazz on the Lawn 30th July & 27th August – 6pm to 7:30pm, FREE

Rubbish Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet, 28th August – 2pm & 6pm, £10 / £7 concession (under 5s FREE).
A hilariously chaotic, family-friendly take on Shakespeare’s classic by the Rubbish Shakespeare Company. Expect silly wigs, people playing balconies, flying sausage rolls, and a lot of audience interaction. Spaces are limited so book early.
Family Open Days, 7th, 14th & 21st August – 10am to 3pm, FREE
Expect walkabout entertainment, character encounters, and fun activities for all ages.
All proceeds from ticketed events go directly toward the ongoing preservation and care of the Croxteth Hall Walled Garden.

The series of activities follow on from last year’s announcement that Liverpool’s historic Botanical Collection, which is housed in the Walled Garden, has been awarded £245,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to create a new home for the collection. The complex project is progressing well and plans to repair the iconic Peach House are moving forward and it is hoped work will begin later this year, with the ambition to have botanical plants on display in the venue by Spring 2026.

“These events are a fantastic way for people to discover – or rediscover – the magic of Croxteth’s Walled Garden.
“It’s a hidden gem with so much to offer – from rare plants and historic greenhouses, to joyful performances and family fun. We want everyone to feel welcome and inspired by this special place.
“It’s encouraging that the project to restore the Peach House is progressing well and it will be great to see the work start to take shape in the coming months. It feels like a real turning point for the Walled Garden, and the wider park, breathing new life into a space that means so much to the local community. We’re proud to be investing in its future and can’t wait to welcome even more people to experience its beauty, history, and potential.”
