Children to ‘get ready’ for school with fun-filled event at Anfield stadium

Last updated:

With the school year coming to an end, many families will be looking forward to their little ones taking their first steps into education in September.

To help parents and carers get ready for this new experience, Liverpool City Council is organising a fun-packed day where there will be lots of hands-on activities for young people to enjoy and for parents and carers to learn about the support available.

The event takes place on Friday, 19 July from 10am-3pm at Liverpool FC’s world-famous stadium.

Outdoor activities including Merseyside Fire and Rescue and Mounted Police,

will take place on – Paisley Square.

Indoor games and information will be held – Level 3 The Code and The Beat Hospitality Suites.

The event is part the Council’s commitment to make sure all children across the city are at the right level of skills and knowledge when they go to school. This will help them get the best possible start in education to reach their full potential.

Whilst being entertained the children will be taking part in games which promote early learning including storytelling, maths games, and creative arts and crafts that encourage problem-solving.

Other highlights from the day include Liverpool and Everton Football Club’s ‘Mini Olympics’, which promotes physical and a healthy lifestyle.

Parents and carers will not only leave with practical help for their child’s transition, but they can gain emotional advice on how they can survive those first few weeks in what can be a daunting time for families.

Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Councillor Lila Bennett, said:

“School readiness is a critical factor in a child’s academic success and overall development. Our goal is to create a supportive and engaging environment where families can access the resources, they need to help their children succeed in school.

“By bringing together experts and offering interactive activities, we hope to make the transition to school a positive and exciting experience for everyone involved.”
