Council Leader welcomes approval of Hillsborough Law legislation

The Leader of Liverpool City Council has welcomed the Hillsborough Law being approved by Parliament.

Councillor Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, said: “The passage of the Hillsborough Law through the House of Commons marks a significant milestone for the Hillsborough families, survivors and campaigners who have fought for decades to secure truth, justice and accountability.

“It is a testament to the courage, determination and dignity of the families who never gave up in their pursuit of justice. Their determination has led to lasting change, helping to ensure that families seeking answers in the aftermath of tragedy are met with honesty, transparency and compassion.

“This is a historic moment, but it is not the end of the journey. We now need to see the Hillsborough Law delivered in full so that truth, accountability and fairness are embedded across our public institutions and in the decisions they make.

“Liverpool City Council has always stood with the Hillsborough families and campaigners, and we will continue to support them as this landmark legislation completes its passage through Parliament.

“We stand with the families, today and always.”
