Council to host event for parents and carers with children and young people with SEND

Liverpool City Council is hosting an event for those who support children and young people with SEND.

The Council is partnering once again with Liverpool Parent Carer Forum (LivPaC) for the Local Offer LIVE Event. This is one of the city’s biggest events for families to come and meet providers and organisations which support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

The event takes place:

The Liverpool Guild of Students at the University of Liverpool

Wednesday 3rd July, 12 – 6pm

It’s a unique opportunity to discover a wealth of services including information about activities, training programmes, employment support, independent living skills and much more.

The Local Offer is Liverpool City Council’s website which has lots of information about what services and support are available for families of children and young people with SEND.

Local Offer LIVE brings our online service to life as this in-person event means that families can speak face-to-face with the people who deliver support to them and learn about new opportunities from organisations which may be able help them and their families. Local Offer LIVE also allows professionals to network with a variety of organisations, improving how they support families through partnership.

Jenny Turnross, Director for Children’s and Young People Service:

“We are thrilled to be partnering again with Liverpool Parent Carer Forum to host our annual marketplace event for families with children and young people who have special educational needs and disabilities.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with each other and with professionals who provide support and care.

“It is our priority to continue to build a network of support that empowers our families and helps our children to thrive.”

Donna Phipps Chair for Liverpool Parent and Carer Forum and mother to Kieran who is 22 and has complex needs:

“We are really excited to bring the Local Offer LIVE back, so parents can use it as a platform to find out more about services in the city. It takes parents on the journey of a child’s life from education, children’s centres and to short breaks, employment looking into the future for our young people.

“At LivPaC we’re so passionate about getting better outcomes for our children and young people.  Myself and other volunteers, within the organisation have children and young people who have SEND so we understand what advice and support families need and we’re sharing that information to help others.”
