Last year, something special happened across Liverpool.
From music and dance to food, film and storytelling, communities from across Europe came together to share their cultures with the city. Streets, venues and public spaces were filled with colour, conversation and celebration. Thousands of people took part, discovering something new and connecting with neighbours, friends and cultures from across the continent. The Liverpool European Festival has quickly become one of the city’s most vibrant and meaningful cultural moments. And now, it’s coming back.
Building on a powerful first chapter
The festival was born from the spirit of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, when Liverpool proudly opened its doors to Europe and the world. That same sense of openness, solidarity and celebration carried into last year’s festival, creating something that felt truly rooted in the city. What made it stand out was its community heart. It was shaped and delivered by Liverpool’s European communities themselves. From grassroots organisations to cultural groups, people brought their traditions, talents and stories to the forefront. The result was a festival that felt authentic, inclusive and uniquely Liverpool.
A city that celebrates who we are
Liverpool has always been a city shaped by movement, migration and global connections. The European Festival is a powerful reminder of that. It celebrates the cultures that are part of everyday life here and creates space for people to come together, learn from each other and build stronger connections.
It also reflects something deeper about the city. A belief that diversity is a strength, and that everyone who calls Liverpool home is part of its story.
What to expect this year
This year’s Liverpool European Festival promises to be even bigger. Plans are already underway for a packed programme running through May and into the summer, bringing together communities from across the continent once again.
You can expect:

More details will be revealed soon, but one thing is certain. The festival will once again transform Liverpool into a celebration of European culture, right on our doorstep.
