Liverpool Festival Celebrates Ramadan

Back by popular demand, Taste Ramadan is returning to the Pier Head in a celebration of diversity – and everyone is invited!

With the ethos ‘share food; share friendship’ the event, which takes place on Friday 8 April, promises to be an unmissable festival featuring Tez Ilyas, faith and community members and a whole host of local performers.

The free event is organised by the Liverpool Region Mosque Network and Liverpool Football Club Foundation working in partnership with Liverpool City Council.

It attracted 4,000 when it last took place in 2019 and it saw a joint pledge from all faith representatives affirming the common humanity of peoples to spread peace, friendship and solidarity against hate.

Speaking about this year’s theme and the programme, event organiser Tawhid Islam, said “Taste
Ramadan 2022 is around hope and building a sustainable future.

“We are delighted to be working with Amnesty International as a partner for the first time, as well as football clubs and charities who offer hope to so many people both across the city and being displaced around the world under tragic circumstances.

“The feedback from young people is that the protection of our environment is a huge issue where we need to do more and inspire others and celebrating the creative industries such as art and poetry.

“Finally, hope is about looking on the bright side and performance is a great way to do that and break down barriers; so as a city famous for our sense of humour, we’re excited Tez Ilyas is saving his biggest appearance in Liverpool for Taste Ramadan.”
