New career? Have you considered Early Years?

Looking for a new work challenge? Want to give our youngest residents the best start in life? Then a career in Early Years could be for you!

Liverpool City Council is hosting a dedicated Early Years Recruitment Event on Wednesday 12 June and anyone aged 16 and above who is interested in finding out more about the opportunities in this rewarding sector is encouraged to attend.

The event is open to people who are currently unemployed as well as those who are already in work but looking to change career direction.

Early Years is the period of a child’s life from birth to five years and includes educational and childcare settings such as play groups, nurseries and childminders.

The event is hosted at The Liner Hotel, Lord Nelson Street, L3 5QB (near Lime Street Station) and doors are open from 2-7pm. It’s free to attend and job seekers can drop in at any time but it is advisable to reserve a place via Eventbrite.

Early Years employers from across the city with vacancies to fill will be at the event as will training providers, including the council’s own Adult Learning Service, who can offer guidance on the learning and qualifications required to work in Early Years. In addition the Liverpool Ways to Work team will be available to provide extra support for people who are not currently in work. More information about working in Early Years can also be found on the government’s Early Years Careers website which also has a list of vacancies in Merseyside.

Kate Bull, Director of Economic Strategy, Skills and Sustainability, said: “Giving children the very best start in life builds a strong city for everyone in the future – this is why a career in Early Years can give so much to so many people.

“It’s a sector where there is currently a real wealth of opportunities as the funded national childcare offer and wraparound offer continues to be expanded over the coming months.

“Our recruitment event is a fantastic chance to get a greater understanding of this vital sector. Whether you’re thinking of moving into Early Years and need to find out more about the training required and the pathways you can follow or you’ve been working in the sector for a few years and want to develop your career – please come along on 12 June.

“At the Liner Hotel, we’ll have all the right people in the right place for you to take those all-important first steps to a truly rewarding career.”

Joanne Towes, HR and business development officer, for Parks Options who will be attending the event, said: “We are delighted to be invited along to the Early Years Recruitment Event to promote Life Bank Nursery and meet face to face people who may be interested in applying for our jobs.

“We’re also looking forward to having an opportunity to network with other providers in the Early Years sector.”
