Sign up for this year’s green bin collections

Fortnightly green bin collections start again today (Monday 23 February), and residents are being encouraged to sign up if they aren’t already.

The service runs from the last week of February until the last week of November each year.

The annual fee for the year ahead has not increased and will remain at £50, working out at just £2.50 per collection. People who pay for multiple bins are entitled to a discount, with each household able to secure up to five bins.

Those who sign up for green bin collections can have their grass cuttings, dead plants, leaves, and small branches taken away to be recycled.

As well as clearing up excess garden material, the service puts unwanted green waste to good use and avoids inefficient incineration. Once collected, the waste gets taken away to be broken down at a dedicated recycling site and turned into compost.

People already signed up to the service will receive a reminder to pay their annual fee towards the end of their 12-month period.

Anyone wanting to find out more or sign up to the service can do so online.
