Liverpool City Council is all ready to help young people take their next steps to employment at the latest Youth Trailblazer event.
The government-backed initiative has already seen over 700 young people aged 18-21 helped to access pre-employment support and job placements and now there is a new opportunity to find out about the programme.
The Your Next Steps event is on Wednesday 23 September and is open to anyone aged from 18-21 who is not in education, employment or training – NEET – and is looking for guidance on how to start their journey into the world of work.
Taking place at PINS Social Club, Duke Street, there will be a whole range of support partners on hand to help attendees explore the wide range of education, training and employment opportunities. The following organisations will be attending:
- Employers with current funded vacancies
- Catch 22
- Merseyside Youth Association
- The Big Trust
- Manifestive CIC
- Kings Trust
- Sound City
- Liverpool Film Office
- Liverpool City Council SEND Team
- Blackburne House
- Be Free Campaign
Parents and carers are also welcome to come along.
As well as all the employment and training partners, everyone attending can also enjoy a free lunch, soft drinks and a free game of bowling!
This is an informal drop-in event, but to manage numbers anyone who would like to attend is encouraged to sign up online:
Quiet Hour – 11am – noon -Anyone mindful of large groups or crowds can come along during a designated quiet hour. Sign up via Eventbrite.

Joanne Kennedy, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Employment, Educational Attainment and Skills, said: “It’s great that the team is back at PINS again, we had a fantastic event in April where young people were walking out the door with job placements that will give them that all important start in the world of employment.
“Young people out of education, training or work is an issue that affects so many of our communities but the Youth Trailblazer is already having a profound effect. If something benefits young people in the present, it benefits our city as a whole in the long term. Our team at the council has incredible experience and a huge range of relationships with employers and other organisations.
“I’d encourage any young person who is finding it hard to access employment to come along on 23 September to start a conversation about their future – who knows you may get a slice of some employment action as well as that all-important slice of pizza!”
The Liverpool City Region is one of eight areas nationally that has been designated as a pilot area for the Youth Trailblazer scheme. Just under £5m has been given to the region to devise and test innovative ideas to support young people into meaningful employment. Liverpool’s scheme is now in its second phase.
