This is Liverpool
A City that Stands Together Against
Racism
Liverpool’s story is one of migration, resilience and solidarity. From the docks to our neighbourhoods, generations of people from across the world have shaped who we are. We’re proud of our diversity, but we know there’s still work to do.
Liverpool City Council has made a clear commitment: To become an anti-racist organisation and to help build a city where everyone feels they belong.
We’ve listened to over 1,200 residents and 550 staff. We’ve heard hard truths; about racism in our services, our culture, and our communities. And we’re acting on what we’ve heard.
We encourage everyone in Liverpool to come together, support each other, and openly oppose racism wherever they see it.
Be Informed
It’s easy for myths and misinformation to spread, especially about migration and equality. Our myth-busting explainer series and blog sets the record straight, with short, clear messages that explain the facts.
What We’re Committing To:
- Visible leadership and zero tolerance for racism across the Council
- Fairer recruitment and progression for racially diverse staff
- Anti-racism training and trauma-informed support for staff and communities
- Services that reflect the needs and strengths of all residents
- Ongoing accountability through community-led monitoring and transparent reporting
