Tributes have been paid to a Liverpool councillor who has passed away suddenly.
Councillor Richard McLinden had been suffering from Covid-19.
He had represented Warbreck since 2007 and was the Chair of the council’s Adult Social Care and Health Select Committee.
Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson described him as one of the city’s “best-loved councillors”.
He said: “This is devastating news for Richard’s family and all of those who knew him.
“He had been a dedicated and hard-working councillor for the people of Warbreck over the past 13 years, and had made a valuable contribution to both the community and the work of the council.
“His death is something that we are all deeply shocked by. Our heartfelt support and condolences go out to Richard’s family.
“It’s important they know how sincerely hurt we are by his untimely death.”
