Liverpool City Council’s wholesale market has relaunched, marking a new era for the city’s market service.
Wholesale Market Liverpool, formerly Liverpool Food HUB, was officially reopened on Tuesday 28 April 2026 by Cllr Barbara Murray, in one of the final engagements of her term as Lord Mayor of Liverpool.
As part of the relaunch event and in a nod to the market’s rich history, Cllr Murray was joined by Tommy Magee, president of the Liverpool Wholesale Fresh Produce Association, to unveil a recently restored historic traders’ association presidents board on the market site. The plaque details all the presidents who have served as chair of the Liverpool Wholesale Fruit, Vegetable, and Flowers Traders’ Association since 1909.
Wholesale Market Liverpool offers a huge range of wholesale fruit, vegetables, flowers, associated sundries, and eventing supplies via some of the best local and national wholesalers based at the market.
Liverpool City Council has operated a wholesale market since 1859 – its first home was on Cazneau Street and, after moving several times, it can now be found on Electric Avenue with its excellent links to the M57 and beyond.
The market is open to trade and the public and operates from 4am to 12pm Monday to Friday, and from 4am to 9am on Saturdays. Some wholesale operators open and close at different times, so please check Wholesale Market Liverpool – Liverpool City Council before visiting.
