Businesses across Liverpool are being encouraged to attend a free breakfast briefing designed to help employers understand and manage the risks associated with driving for work.
Liverpool City Council has partnered with Driving for Better Business to host the Work-Related Road Risk Breakfast Briefing at the Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre on Wednesday 28 October.
The event will highlight employers’ legal responsibilities when staff drive for work, whether that’s travelling to meetings, visiting customers, making deliveries or attending sites in a company vehicle or their own car.
Around a third of road traffic collisions involve someone who was driving for work, making effective management of work-related road risk an important issue for organisations of all sizes.
The free event will run from 8am to 11.30am and will provide practical advice, guidance and resources that businesses can take away and implement immediately.
Attendees will hear from a panel of specialists across five key areas:
- Employer legal responsibilities
- Driver impairment, including drink, drugs and medication
- Driver health and wellbeing
- Driver behaviour
- Vehicle safety
The briefing will also cover business responsibilities around policies, record keeping, monitoring and management reporting.
People will receive a resource pack and access to a post-event download containing presentation materials, tools and guidance to help organisations identify and address potential gaps in their approach to road risk management.
Businesses attending will also have the opportunity to speak with the Council’s Business Support Service about the support available to help local companies grow and develop. A representative from the Council’s employment and skills team, Liverpool in Work, will also be on hand to discuss the free recruitment support they offer.
Places are limited and advance booking is required.
Councillor Dan Barrington, Liverpool City Council Cabinet Member for Transport and Connectivity, said: “Businesses have an important role to play in keeping our roads safe. This free briefing is an opportunity for employers to hear from experts, gain practical advice and access resources that can help them manage road risk more effectively.
“We’re pleased to be working with Driving for Better Business to bring this event to Liverpool and would encourage businesses of all sizes to take advantage of this valuable opportunity.”
