Culture Liverpool has announced its first recipients of community grants as part of the Home: A Celebration of Place programme, supporting a wide range of grassroots arts, heritage, and community-led projects in neighbourhoods across the city.
Earlier this year, Culture Liverpool invited applications for grants of between £500 and £5,000 to support community celebrations, creative projects, and neighbourhood festivals that bring people together and celebrate local identity.
The successful projects will take place before the end of September 2026 and will help residents engage with arts and culture in their local communities while showcasing the unique stories, identities, and achievements of Liverpool’s neighbourhoods.
The successful grant recipients are:
Granby Four Streets Community Land Trust (Princes Park)
Home Truths is a language and photography exhibition centring migrant voices and celebrating the diversity of languages spoken in the neighbourhood. Through creative workshops, participants will explore their experiences of migration, building a new life and creating a sense of home. The project will share stories through photography, film and interviews, highlighting resilience, creativity, and community connections.
Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels (Edge Hill)
Working in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels will deliver a series of workshops exploring the famous tunnels and the area’s shared heritage. Activities will include investigations, mapping, storytelling, drawing, model-making and collage sessions with schools and community groups, culminating in an exhibition and children’s book.
Scouse Flower House (Clubmoor West)
Following two years of work alongside local residents to sow and nurture a community meadow, Clubmoor Triangle will celebrate the transformation of the site with a community-focused day of activity, bringing people together to enjoy and celebrate the green space they have helped create.
Liverpool Olympia (Everton East)
Roll Up! Homegrown invites local children and families on an immersive journey through the stories, circus heritage and hidden spaces of their neighbourhood, reconnecting communities with the rich history of the area through creative participation.
Kitty’s Launderette (Everton North)
Alongside Kitty’s Launderette’s existing summer programme, funding will support additional creative workshops delivered in collaboration with Two Up Two Down. Exploring what it means to live well in a neighbourhood, the project will also include community film screenings and creative activities that animate the space throughout the summer.
Movema (Kensington)
Taking Flight expands Movema’s neighbourhood-rooted project into a large-scale community performance exploring belonging and what it means to build a home. Combining global dance, spoken word, music, costume and participatory storytelling, the project will culminate in a day-long celebration shaped by local voices. At its centre will be The Nest, an interactive artwork and sound installation featuring stories written and recorded by local residents.
The Olivia Korbel Butterfly Foundation CIC (Knotty Ash and Dovecot Park)
Olivia’s Butterfly Foundation was created in loving memory of Olivia Korbel, with a mission to give back to the local community. Liv Fest will be a day of celebration and community cohesion in Dovecot Park on Sunday 30 August.
Walton Youth and Community Project (Walton and County)
Our Voice, Our Future: Walton – A Celebration of Home is a youth-led creative drama programme engaging young people aged 8 to 19. Through a series of workshops, participants will create performances that explore identity, belonging and community pride, sharing their experiences and hopes for the future through theatre and storytelling.
Wider activity across Home: A Celebration of Place will continue from summer 2026 through to early 2027, culminating in a city-wide celebration showcasing the creativity, stories and achievements emerging from Liverpool’s neighbourhoods.
