Free children’s tickets are now available for the much-anticipated Minton Tiles Reveal at St George’s Hall.
The special offer is available on Sunday 9 August, Sunday 16 August and Sunday 23 August, giving children the chance to explore the spectacular Victorian tiles that are usually hidden beneath the floor of the Great Hall, free of charge.

As part of the experience, visitors will be able to walk around the perimeter of the famous Minton tiled floor and take part in a range of family-friendly activities, including a Minton Tiles-inspired game of tic-tac-toe, dressing up as Victorian prisoners, guards or footmen, and completing themed activity books.
Families are also encouraged to take part in the free Minton Tiles Trail Map, developed in partnership with Liverpool BID. The trail takes participants on a journey across Liverpool city centre, where they can discover tile-inspired designs displayed in shop windows and colour them in on their map. Completed trail maps can then be returned to St George’s Hall to be displayed.
The offer forms part of a wider programme of free and affordable activities available for children and families across Liverpool this summer.
Summer Savings for families
Families can enjoy more affordable days out thanks to the Government’s Summer Savings initiative, which includes reduced VAT on selected children’s and family activities such as theatre and cinema tickets, restaurant meals, and amusement parks until 1 September 2026.
There is also free bus travel for under-15s throughout August, helping families travel across the city at no extra cost.

Free Lifestyles membership for under-18s
Liverpool City Council has also launched a new Kids Go Free leisure membership for children and young people under 18 who live in Liverpool.
As part of the council’s Active Lifestyles Youth Offer, eligible young people can access free gym and swimming sessions at participating Lifestyles centres across the city. Free swimming is also available for children under eight.
The initiative is designed to help young people stay active, improve wellbeing and access safe, inclusive leisure facilities, while supporting the council’s commitment to removing barriers to physical activity.
Young people can register online or at participating Lifestyles centres and receive a membership card free of charge.

Summer fun in Liverpool libraries
Liverpool’s libraries are also encouraging young readers to get involved in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, themed “Read to the Beat!”
The 2026 challenge celebrates music and reading, with a collection of 55 books inspired by musical stories and themes from around the world. Children can sign up at any Liverpool library, set reading goals and earn rewards throughout the summer.

Free activities through the HAF programme
Children and young people from reception-age to 16 who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals can also access a huge range of free activities and meals through Liverpool’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
Running throughout the school holidays, activities include trips out, Lego building, rock climbing, cooking, racket sports, sewing, painting, cycling, gymnastics, football, gardening and much more.
