Liverpool City Council is launching the Liverpool Young Futures Apprenticeship Programme, creating 29 paid apprenticeship opportunities for young Liverpool residents to earn, learn and build a career while making a difference in their city.
Applications open on 13 August 2026 and close at 11.59pm on 1 September 2026.
The programme offers apprenticeships across a wide range of careers, including marketing, digital content creation, ICT, environmental health, emergency resilience, housing, parks and green spaces, health and social care, and venue operations.
All apprentices will be paid the real Living Wage while working towards a nationally recognised qualification and gaining hands-on experience.
The programme is open to Liverpool residents aged 16 to 20, with opportunities available up to age 24 for eligible young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or who are care experienced, including eligible Liverpool City Council care leavers living outside the city boundary.
Applicants only need one application, making it easier to apply for a range of opportunities. Later in the recruitment process, candidates will be able to indicate which roles interest them most.
Liverpool City Council already employs around 60 apprentices and 25 graduates across a wide range of professions. Liverpool Young Futures builds on this commitment by creating additional opportunities specifically for young Liverpool residents taking their first steps into employment.
The programme is part of the Council’s wider commitment to creating opportunities for local people, improving life chances and developing the workforce needed to support Liverpool’s future.
Young people interested in finding out more can attend an open event at Liverpool Town Hall on 19 August 2026 at 10am to 12 PM. The event will provide an opportunity to meet hiring managers, learn more about the available roles and ask questions about the application process.
