More than 40 community-led events will take place across Liverpool this May and June as the Liverpool European Festival returns for its most ambitious year to date.
Now in its fourth year, the festival continues to build on the legacy of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, celebrating the rich cultures, traditions and contributions of European communities across the city.
Led by the Liverpool European Partnership, the festival has grown significantly since its launch, doubling in size from 20 events to over 40 in 2026. This year’s programme will reach beyond the city centre for the first time, with events taking place across a wider geography. Residents and visitors will enjoy a diverse programme of activity, including live music, dance, food, film, workshops and cultural celebrations, with most events free or low cost and open to all.
The Liverpool European Festival is shaped and delivered by the city’s European communities, offering authentic experiences and creating opportunities for people to come together, connect and learn from one another.
For the first time, the festival is working with European cultural institutes, including the Cyprus Cultural Centre and the Dante Alighieri Society, bringing new depth to the programme. Three major cultural organisations are also supporting the festival this year including Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Open Eye Gallery and National Museums Liverpool.
The festival officially launches on Saturday 9 May at St Luke’s Bombed Out Church, followed by a European Parade through the city centre on Sunday 10 May.
