Liverpool is named one of the UK’s fastest-growing cities

Liverpool has been recognised as one of the UK’s fastest-growing locations for jobs and new talent in a major new ranking published by LinkedIn.

The professional networking platform has included Liverpool in its inaugural Cities on the Rise list, which identifies emerging locations across the UK where hiring is accelerating, job opportunities are growing and professionals are choosing to build their careers. The rankings are based on LinkedIn data and highlight areas showing strong economic momentum.

The recognition comes as Liverpool continues to deliver ambitious plans to grow the city’s economy, attract investment and create opportunities for residents. The city’s long-term Growth Plan sets out a vision to strengthen key sectors including life sciences, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, creative and digital industries.

Liverpool’s expanding film and television sector, growing innovation economy and major regeneration programme are helping to attract businesses, investment and skilled workers from across the UK and beyond.

Councillor Nick Small, Cabinet Member for Growth and Economy at Liverpool City Council, said: “This recognition from LinkedIn is a strong endorsement of Liverpool’s growing reputation as a city where businesses can invest, innovate and thrive.

“We’re seeing real momentum across our economy, from life sciences and advanced manufacturing to clean energy, digital technologies and our rapidly expanding film and television industry.

“Through our Growth Plan, we’re working with partners across the city to create high-quality jobs, attract investment and ensure local people can benefit from the opportunities being created.

“Liverpool has always been a city of ambition, creativity and talent. This ranking reflects the progress being made and reinforces our confidence that Liverpool is one of the best places in the UK to build a career, grow a business and invest for the future.”

The LinkedIn ranking looks beyond the largest metropolitan areas to identify places where economic growth and employment opportunities are gathering pace. The report highlights locations across the country that are attracting new talent and creating strong labour market opportunities.

Liverpool’s inclusion reflects the city’s growing profile as a destination for investment and innovation, supported by major developments, a world-class knowledge economy, nationally significant cultural assets and strong connections across key industries. It also reflects the strength of the city’s social economy. Nearly 300 jobs have been secured and £19.4 million of investment leveraged into organisations delivering both economic and social value, helping to ensure growth benefits communities across the city.
