Road users are being asked to allow for additional time when making journeys around Great Howard Street, due to urgent works taking place.
Scottish Power is currently carrying out emergency repairs following a major cable fault, resulting in a full northbound closure on Great Howard Street between the Paisley Street area and Saltney Street.
People are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible and to give themselves extra time when travelling through the area, particularly during peak hours in the morning and evening. Diversions will be signposted in the area.
Everton vs Chelsea
Additional congestion is expected on Saturday 17 October as Everton host a home fixture, with kick-off at 12.30pm.
Leeds Street, Vauxhall Road, Scotland Road and Regent Road are expected to be busier than usual.
To help keep everyone safe as they travel to and from Hill Dickinson, Boundary Street will be made one-way heading towards the Stadium, from 9am to 12.30pm.
After the match, the traffic management arrangements will be adjusted to help supporters and vehicles leave the stadium area safely and efficiently.
Traffic management teams will be positioned along the route, with police support available where required.
Anyone travelling to the match is encouraged to use public transport wherever possible, as this is the most reliable way to travel through the city, and to allow for additional time getting to and from the stadium.
Stadium shuttle buses will operate on a diverted route via Vauxhall Road and Boundary Street. Supporters using the shuttle service should expect some delays due to wider road closures and increased traffic levels.
Visitors booked into the West Quay or Nelson Dock car parks will be contact directly by Everton Football Club with travel information.
Full matchday travel details are available on the Everton website.
Rail updates
Please note that due to planned engineering work on the Merseyrail network, rail replacement bus services will be operating between Hunts Cross and Moorfields stations, with no bus stop at Liverpool Central.
The works form part of a £3.5 million project to strengthen and waterproof four tunnels carrying Northern Line services into Liverpool from the south.
Anyone affected by the works are encouraged to check their route before travelling and allow additional time for their journey.
